Nonlinear coordinated control of STATCOM and generator excitation for multi‐machine power systems based on improved multi‐objective holographic feedback

Abstract: Aiming at the coordination control problem of the static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) and generator excitation in a multi-machine system, an improved multi-objective holographic feedback (IMOHF) control method is proposed to ensure good dynamic and static state performance of each state in the system. First, the essence of IMOHF is deduced by the Hartman-Grobman theorem. The nonlinear differential algebraic equation (NDAE) system is used to arrange the poles in the vicinity of the equilibrium point by non… Show more

“…The transient stability of the power system is the kernel issue to ensure the safe operation of the power grid. The Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) devices can enhance the transient stability of transmission system economically and effectively [1]. Among them, the static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) is a FACTS device based on power electronic converter, which has the characteristics of improving the voltage quality, regulating the grid reactive power, and improving the transient stability of the power system [2,3].…”

“…In the generator excitation and STATCOM coordinated control system, multiple parameter uncertainties and external disturbances are the main factors affecting the transient stability of power systems [6][7][8][9]. Li et al [10] designed a coordinated control strategy for STATCOM and generator excitation based on the objective holographic feedback method, and achieved effective tracking and control of the dynamic and static performance of the six state variables. While the method did not take into account the damping effect of winding and did not fully consider the a Correspondence to: Lei Zhang.…”
