Non-Extremal Gravity Duals for Fractional D3-Branes on the Conifold

Abstract: The world volume theory on N regular and M fractional D3-branes at the conifold singularity is a non-conformal N = 1 supersymmetric SU (N + M ) × SU (N ) gauge theory. In previous work the extremal Type IIB supergravity dual of this theory at zero temperature was constructed. Regularity of the solution requires a deformation of the conifold: this is a reflection of the chiral symmetry breaking. To study the non-zero temperature generalizations non-extremal solutions have to be considered, and in the high tempe… Show more

“…The first-order flow equations we find are restricted to the blackening of the simplified Ansatz (3.15) and we have not yet been able to extend the flow to the more general Ansätze used in (3.40) for the KT black brane when p = 3 [15,40]. The latter solutions necessarily include the dynamical shape modulus e w of the T 1,1 , see equation (3.40).…”

“…In a general background it is impossible to guess what the dual supergravity mode will be, and one must calculate on a case by case basis. In [64] finite tempera-ture generalizations of the KS and MN backgrounds were found. In these solutions there is no chiral symmetry breaking and therefore no gluino condensate.…”

“…At the end of inflation, the horizon shrinks, the D branes appear, and the SM strings become open strings on the branes again, which should be excited up to the energy of the black hole. This process can be understood as a phase transition [66,[177][178][179][180][181]. In fact, this type of transition between thermal strings and black holes has been advocated on general grounds [182].…”
