“…Around 1927, while studying in Professor Bruno Bloch's Clinic of Dermatology at the University of Zurich, Marion B. Sulzberger observed, for the first time, a dermatosis which neither Bloch nor any of his staff could identify. It was not until 1937, after having gathered several eases together with William Garbe at the Skin and Cancer Unit of the New York University Medical Center, that the characteristic picture and course were published as a "distinctive exudative discoid and lichenoid chronic dermatosis" [2,3]. In the original description it was pointed out that a penile lesion occurs so regularly in this dermatosis, that it may be considered as a characteristic feature of the disease.…”
