Nickel Family Metal Clusters for Catalytic Hydrogenation Processes

Abstract: Nanoparticles of precious metals play an important role in many heterogeneous catalytic reactions due to their excellent catalytic performance. As an idealized model, gas phase metal clusters have been extensively utilized to understand catalytic mechanisms at a molecular level. Here we provide an overview of our recent studies on H2 dissociative chemisorption on nickel family clusters. The structure evolution and the stability of the metal clusters were first compared. H2 dissociation on the clusters was then… Show more

“…The oxidation of hydrogen molecule (H 2 ) has attracted much attention , because of its role in H 2 O 2 synthesis, , catalytic oxidation of hydrocarbons, and the selective removal of CO from hydrogen streams . Metal oxide supported gold catalysts have been shown to exhibit remarkable catalytic activity in H 2 oxidation. , Most studies mainly focus on the mechanism of H 2 dissociation, and researchers have recognized that the gold atom usually acts as the active adsorption site and induces the H 2 dissociation in collaboration with the separated lattice oxygen (O 2– ) of the metal oxide support.…”
