Despite the increasing research to determine the influence of environmental sustainability orientation (ESO) and corporate social responsibility (CSR) on environmental performance, our understanding is to see the mediating effect of green capability between ESO, CSR, and environmental performance is lacking. Data were collected by using survey questionnaires from top management of the construction and manufacturing industry in Malaysia. A total of 377 questionnaires become part of the final analysis. The researchers used SmartPLS 3.2.8 and SPSS 25.0 for analysis. The structural equation modeling (SEM) was followed to determine the variables validity and path relationships. The findings elucidate that ESO and green capability are significantly associated with environmental performance. In contrast, CSR has no direct influence on environmental performance. Moreover, ESO and CSR significantly influence green capability. Green capability mediates between ESO, CSR, and environmental performance.

PurposeThis paper aims to investigate hypothesized relationships between the Internet of things (IoT) and big data analytics (BDA) with supply chain visibility (SCV) and operational performance (OP) in the pharmaceutical manufacturing sector in Jordan. The paper also aims to test the conceptual model related to the indirect effects of SCV.Design/methodology/approachTo achieve the objectives of this paper, a conceptual model was developed through a review of the current literature. Data analysis was performed by covariance-based structural equation modelling using Amos 25 software, and the convergent validity, discriminant validity, reliability and confirmatory factor analysis were verified. Then the hypotheses were tested.FindingsThe results of the study indicate that there is a positive and statistically significant relationship between the IoT and BDA on SCV and OP. The relationship was positive and statistically significant between SCV and OP. In addition, support for the mediation hypothesis that SCV mediates the relationship among IoT, BDA and OP was confirmed.Originality/valueThis paper provides new theoretical and managerial contributions that have not been covered in previous studies, and it is considered the first study that uses this conceptual model with this mechanism in terms of the theoretical lens and empirical application. This paper contributes to understanding the dynamic mechanisms of the IoT and BDA in enhancing OP, which contributes to creating a supply chain capable of facing various environmental fluctuations and pressures. This study presents new implications that can be used in the supply chain literature.

PurposeThe aim of this study is to determine how the different age of consumers impacts on some factors that drive consumers to the purchasing of private label products, considering differences and similarities of behaviors.Design/methodology/approachThe research was conducted through the administration of a questionnaire to evaluate consumers' perceptions about private label food products. To collect data, the convenience sampling method has been used. The valid answers collected and analyzed are 358.FindingsThe results of this study highlight that the response of different age groups to the Private Label Brands (PLBs) must be considered in the light of the positioning adopted by the individual retailers. Value for money and satisfaction on previous consumption are relevant for purchasing decisions regardless of the retailer's strategy and the age of consumers. A third factor, price, is important for the whole sample. Focusing on the specific age clusters, the younger respondents seem to be attentive to factors such as healthy and in-store promotion, while the more experienced consumer are attentive to the origin and traceability of products.Originality/valueAn analysis of the main literature on Private Labels showed that the results of research about the role of consumer age in PLB choices are contrasting. This study aims at integrating the literature, measuring how the factors influencing the purchase of PLB products vary for different age groups of consumers.
