very knowledgeable about crocodylians and I feel lucky to have learned about this group from him. I am also grateful to my committee members Joe Sertich and Jonathan Adrain. Joe was one of the first paleontologists I met, he gave me my first internship in paleontology, and played a significant role in my going into this field. I'm grateful for his continued support throughout this project and his help with the editing process. Jonathan taught me about many phylogenetics concepts, and I am much stronger in this aspect of my research because of him. I am thankful for access to specimens at the museums and institutions I visited as a part of this project, as well as assistance with specimens that I was able to receive on loan. I am grateful to assistance from David Parris and Dana Ehret at the NJSM, Bruce Erickson at the SMM, Carl Mehling at the AMNH, Alan Resetar at the FMNH, Christian Kammerer at the NCSM, Ray Wilhite at the AUMP, and Jun Ebersole at the MSC. I'm also grateful to Chris Brochu, and Adam Cossette for sharing photos of specimens with me. This project would not have been possible without funding provided by the University of Iowa Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, and the Geological Society of America. I would like to acknowledge Michael Richards for the time he spent on the excavation and preparation of the new species described in this project, and I am glad that I can help finally get this specimen described in the literature. I would like to thank the University of Iowa Vertebrate Paleontology Group for helpful discussions on this project. Lastly, I would like to thank my family, Kathryn McCormack and Tim McCormack, boyfriend, Carter Moses, and friends for encouragement throughout this project.
