The paper presents the conceptual framework and operational indicators of the Learning Management System in virtual spaces supported by ICT. The framework of the management system has three layers that are operational, management-operative, and management-decision. The conceptual foundation of the system is related to the Science of Education, the Science of Computing and the Science of Administration, and takes into account the representative model of the teaching-learning process of the student in virtual spaces supported by ICT. The dimensions, characteristics, variables, and indicators of the management system are assembled on the model in question. The indicators presented in the article correspond to 153 indicators of the operational layer. These were evaluated internationally with a confidence level of more than 90%. The operative indicators are contained in the dimensions of identification, academic, pedagogical-didactic, formative, of assessment of the virtual learning, and technological of the system of management of the virtual learning. The importance of the indicators presented ensures the success of the operational phase of the management system. Therefore, once the operation of the system is guaranteed, the success of the management-operative and management-decision layers of the system is assured. The correct fulfillment of the layers above guarantees the achievement of both the student's learning in the virtual course and the institution that offers virtual teaching through virtual learning platforms supported by ICT.

The number of digital resources that exist in repositories and on the Internet in general is enormous. Recovering resources that fit with the user’s specific needs poses a problem. To solve this problem, metainformation is added to the resources. One type of metainformation is the classification of a resource using a classification system that is widely recognised and agreed upon by its users. In this way, each resource is assigned a precise place within the classification system, thus facilitating its location. This article proposes a taxonomy for the classification of the resources (notes, exercises, exams or programmes that could be stored within a digital repository) that are generated within the scope of a Mathematical Logic course for a computer science degree programme. It also describes how to represent the proposed taxonomy using the IMS-VDEX standard and how to integrate it in the LOM and Dublin Core metadata specifications and proposes a set of controlled vocabularies that make it possible to refine the taxonomic metainformation.

A Multi-Agent Based Approach to Short Message Service (SMS) Normalization System

SMS language is characterized by fashion and user’s creativity but needs a transformation to proper English words or spelling to formulate natural language and text processing activities. The proposed application, Web Information Retrieval System Architecture Based on SMS (WIRSABoSMS), normalizes SMS language to retain its original syntactic structure. The concept of mobile agents in web technology was introduced as a medium to achieving Short Message Service (SMS) normalization. SMS normalization was carried out with the adoption of multi-agent technology, as agents are involved in character search, sort, and compare of the strings written in SMS form into its parental orthography. This architecture was designed based on web information retrieval system (IRS) in order to achieve SMS normalization. BLEU (bilingual evaluation understudy) was used to evaluate the quality of text. BLEU scores compare the human judgment with that of the machine translation using two set of corpora. The outcome of syntactic text message normalization recorded an average of 90% performance (for the corpus collected from researchers) when compared with the similar test conducted with human judgment using BLEU scores metric in an health-related domain.
