A nomenclatural history of one of the most neglected and misunderstood species Racomitrium chlorocarpum is presented. Valid publication of this species name was incorrectly ascribed to M. Fleischer and R. chlorocarpum of 1904 is merely a younger isonym of R. chlorocarpum Paris of 1897. The species name is lectotypified with a specimen from Tasmania, Australia, deposited in the Hooker herbarium (BM), and an isolectotype is present in the herbarium of W. Mitten (NY). Racomitrium chlorocarpum is a typical representative of the genus Bucklandiella, the largest segregate of the broadly interpreted genus Racomitrium and the relevant transfer to this genus is effected as Bucklandiella chlorocarpa, comb. nov. The diagnostic characters of the species are briefly summarised. This is a hydrophytic species, endemic to Australasia and is known from SE Australia, Tasmania and New Zealand.

Most of these are typical elements of the bryophyte assemblages living on the saline-alkaline grasslands of the Danube-Tisza Interfl uve in Hungary. Didymodon sicculus is reported for the fi rst time in Croatia here. Microbryum fl oerkeanum is included in the Red data book of European bryophytes. In addition, in the studied Serbian saline sites another European red-listed species, Entosthodon hungaricus, is also present. Two thalloid liverworts, rare in SE Europe, Oxymitra incrassata and Riccia nigrella, were found in one Serbian site.

The endemic species Ditrichum tenuinerve Dixon from Tristan da Cunha is taxonomically evaluated and some details of its type material are illustrated. This species shares the diagnostic characters of Blindia robusta Hampe and the two species are considered to be conspecific. As a result of this taxonomic conclusion the global range of B. robusta is extended to the South Atlantic Ocean and accordingly it has to be considered as a nearly pan-south-temperate, not an amphipacific southtemperate species. The global distribution map for B. robusta is presented.
