Abstract: Abstract The condensation reaction of pyridine‐carboxylic acid hydrazides IIa‐d with ethyl butanoylacetate was selectively used to synthesize new azo‐disperse dyes embodying a pyrazolone moiety with a view to evaluating and comparing their dyeing performance on synthetic polymer fibres.
