New Computer Simulation Procedure of Heading Face Mining Process with Transverse Cutting Heads for Roadheader Automation

Abstract: The key working process carried out by roadheaders is rock mining. For this reason, the mathematical modelling of the mining process is underlying the prediction of a dynamic load on the main components of a roadheader, the prediction of power demand for rock cutting with given properties or the prediction of energy consumption of this process. The theoretical and experimental investigations conducted point out -especially in relation to the technical parameters of roadheaders used these days in underground mi… Show more

“…Theoretically, due to the extremely complex working environment of coal mine, the boom-type roadheader should be a system with infinite degree of freedom during the horizontal cutting process. Therefore, in order to establish the dynamical coupling model of roadheader's body pose, it is necessary to make reasonable and appropriate simplification and assumption for the working state of roadheader [25][26][27].…”

“…analysis of the effects on cutting performance and cannot be involved in a quantitative calculation or evaluation, similar to the processing parameters of the cutting picks. 8 Due to these issues, it is important to select realistic evaluation indicators in order to develop a roadheader cutting evaluation indicator system. Many factors that could affect the cutting performance evaluation of a roadheader are: the cutting unit parameters, the walking unit parameters, the spading plate unit parameters, the transport parameters, the electrical partial, and the hydraulic partial.…”

“…13,14 In adaptive cutting strategy, cutting parameters, including rotating and swing speed, are adjusted in real time based on the properties of coal-rock to ensure the stability of cutting load. [15][16][17] In the cutting process of coal lane crosssection, cutting gangue will cause the sudden change of cutting load, resulting in serious pick wear of and severe vibration, 18,19 which will increase the failure rate and reduce the service life of robotized roadheader. 20 To improve the cutting stability of the coal lane cross-section, this work proposes a cutting strategy to avoid gangue and cut remaining coal-rock firstly, as shown in Figure 1.…”
