“…edu) I nfiltration of the peripheral nervous system (PNS) 3 by lymphoma was termed "neurolymphomatosis" (NL) prior to identification of the causative B lymphocyte (Lhermitte and Trelles, 1934). The least common clinical presentation of nervous system lymphoma (Dickenman and Chason, 1958;Griffin et al 1971), malignant lymphocytic infiltrates of root, plexus, and nerve, is separable from nontumor disorders associated with lymphoma such as irradiation, chemotherapy, or paraneoplastic effects (Borit and Altrocchi, 1971;Kuroda et al, 1989;Schoenfeld et al, 1983;Trelles and Trelles, 1983;Trelles et al, 1976;Vallat et al, 1995).…”

“…NL is an uncommon form of initial presentation or recurrence of lymphoma. It was described by Lhermitte and Trelles [8] in 1934 as a localized invasion of malignant lymphoid cells into peripheral nerves, roots, and cranial nerves. The nerve structures involved are peripheral nerves (60% of cases), spinal nerve roots (48% of cases), nerve plexus (40% of cases), cranial nerves (46% of cases), and multiple sites (58% of cases) [9].…”
