The Low Deciduous Forest (LDF) provides several ecosystem services; however, it is the type of vegetation with the greatest anthropogenic impact. Sampling was carried out at 7 sites in an LDF area in recovery, located in the Costa Chica region, in the Guerrero State, Mexico. The main objective was to evaluate the degree of soil disturbance from the analysis of the composition and structure of communities of nematodes present in each of the sites. Bacterivorous nematodes considered as opportunistic organisms were the most abundant in all sites, indicating disturbed soils. The average values of the ecological indices (Maturity Index - IM, Enrichment Index - IE, and Structure Index - SI) were low in most of the sites, confirming the results obtained with the trophic groups.

Change of land forest in Wan Abdul Rachman Forest Park became agroforestry, affect of cover condition and decrease the content of soil matter. Nematode was one of the soils biotas that can be used as an indicator of change in the soil status. The aim of study is to know the community and diversity of nematodes on the Utilization Block, Integrated Educational Conservation Forest, Wan Abdul Rachman Great Forest Park. The research was conducted in April to May 2018. The soil samples were taken on arboretum one, arboretum two, arboretum three and arboretum four in Integrated Educational Conservation Forest, Wan Abdul Rachman Great Forest Park. Nematode observations were conducted in the Plant Pests Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung. Nematodes was identified to genus level based on morphological traits. The analysis used were including the index of diversity, dominance and similarities between genus arboretum. The results showed that there were 30 genus of nematode consists of 19 plant parasitic nematode genera, six nematoda bacterial-feeding, three nematode fungal-feeding and two predator nematodes. The dominant nematode genera were Criconomella, Helycotylenchulus and Rotylenchulus. The abundance of nematodes ranges from 171-617 individuals/300cm3 soil. The diversity of soil nematodes based on the Shannon-Wienner index ranges from 2,47 – 2,80. The Shannon-Whienner Index criteria were classified as moderate. The Simpson Index ranges from 0,89 – 0,93. The highest similarity index genus in arboretum three and four with a value of 0,81 and the lowest in arboretum two and three which is 0,54. Genetic studies of nematodes have been dominated by Caenorhabditis elegans as a model species. A lack of genomic resources has limited the expansion of genetic research to other groups of nematodes. Here, we report a draft genome assembly of a mermithid nematode, Mermis nigrescens. Mermithidae are insect parasitic nematodes with hosts including a wide range of terrestrial arthropods. We sequenced, assembled, and annotated the whole genome of M. nigrescens using nanopore long-reads and 10X chromium link-reads. The assembly is 524 Mb in size consisting of 867 scaffolds. The N50 value is 2.42 Mb, and half of the assembly is in the 30 longest scaffolds. The assembly BUSCO score from the eukaryotic database (eukaryota_odb10) indicates that the genome is 86.7% complete and 5.1% partial. The genome has a high level of heterozygosity (6.6%) with a repeat content of 78.7%. mRNA-seq reads from different-sized nematodes (≤2 cm, 3.5-7 cm, and >7 cm body length) representing different developmental stages were also generated and used for the genome annotation. Using ab initio and evidence-based gene model predictions, 12,313 protein-coding genes and 24,186 mRNAs were annotated. These genomic resources will help researchers investigate the various aspects of the biology and host-parasite interactions of mermithid nematodes.
