Natural Attenuation of Heavy Metals (Cd, Cr, and Pb) in a Water Table Aquifer Underlying an Industrial Site

Abstract: We investigated 3 heavy metals in a contaminated shallow aquifer, in which the pH ranges from 1 to 10. We show that natural attenuation takes place through various geochemical processes (coprecipitation and precipitation), as acidic pH is buffered by carbonate minerals.
