Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) is a prevalent systemic disease caused by diverse factors, for which effective treatments are currently limited. Herein, the oleogel (OG) containing copper‐curcumin (CuR) nanoparticles is developed, designated as CuRG, which is also combined with traditional naturopathic scraping (Gua Sha, SCR) as a multifunctional therapy for AGA. With the assistance of lipophilic OG and SCR, CuR can efficaciously penetrate the epidermal and dermal regions where most hair follicles (HFs) reside, thereby releasing curcumin (CR) and copper ions (Cu2+) subcutaneously to facilitate hair regeneration. Concomitantly, the mechanical stimulation induced by SCR promotes the formation of new blood vessels, which is conducive to reshaping the microenvironment of HFs. This study validates that the combination of CuRG and SCR is capable of systematically interfering with different pathological processes, ranging from improvement of perifollicular microenvironment (oxidative stress and insufficient vascularization), regulation of inflammatory responses to degradation of androgen receptor (AR), thus potentiating hair growth. Compared with minoxidil, a widely used clinical drug for AGA therapy, the designed synergistic system displays augmented hair regeneration in the AGA mouse model.This article is protected by copyright. Functional Nanostructured Materials in the Cosmetics Industry: A Review

Cosmetics have always been in demand across the globe among people of all age groups. In the modern cosmetic world, nanostructured materials have proven hugely advantageous in producing cosmeceuticals or ‘nano-cosmeceuticals’ and various beauty products. The application of nanostructured materials in cosmetic products possesses some challenges in terms of short- and long-term safety and environmental issues, despite their growing popularity. The nanostructured particles in cosmeceuticals provide a targeted route of administration due to their high penetrability, site selectivity, high effectiveness, prolonged activity, and drug encapsulation potential. However, standard methods for toxicity evaluation may not be relevant for cosmeceuticals, leading to the need for an alternative methodology. This review article compiles detailed descriptions of all significant aspects of nanostructured materials in the cosmetics industry, which include the synthesis and characterization of relevant nanostructured materials for cosmeceuticals, state-of-the-art practices, mechanisms for the synthesis of advanced materials, toxicological concerns in terms of health risks in humans, and environmental concerns. Also, a proposal for new approaches in terms of regulatory measures to mitigate these problems has been suggested. The primary focus of this article is to provide a comprehensive outlook on this subject area and contribute to the exploration of new prospects and emerging roles of nanostructured materials in the cosmetics industry.

Hair quality is viewed as an important factor of health. It is a fundamental structure made up of simple uncomplicated filaments that provides protection from heat from either direct sunlight or any processes involved in hair care treatments. Moreover, it mirrors a person's social status and relationships, including features like youthful appearance, age, and lifestyle trends. Cosmetic products intended for hair care are used for several purposes to enhance overall hair, shaft, and scalp health. This is where nanotechnology-based delivery for hair care enters. The advancement of research and development demonstrated by nanotechnology boosts hair care product efficacy by delivering creative solutions. This review paper aims to discuss and provide an overview regarding nanotechnology and its incorporation into hair care cosmetics in order to enhance quality as well as hair care delivery. Specifically it presents a summary of all the gathered publications with relevance to nanotechnology and its application to hair care products in terms of delivery, benefits, and the risks involved with its inclusion. With this, the major findings of several studies presented that nanoparticles can increase the advantages of active substances when incorporated into hair care products and that the improved understanding regarding pathways of the hair care delivery has helped in the personalization of products which in turn improves hair cosmesis.
