Nanofiltration membrane cross‐linked by m‐phenylenediamine for dye removal from textile wastewater

Abstract: In this work, m-phenylenediamine (MPD) is used to prepare cross-linked polyetherimide (PEI)-based nanofiltration (NF) membrane for treatment of dye containing wastewater. The effects of dope solution composition, cross-linking time, and dye concentration on membrane performance are investigated. Results indicate that the rejection of dye is increased with the increase of acetone concentration in the dope solution, cross-linking time, and dye concentration. Meanwhile, membrane flux showed the opposite trend. Wi… Show more

“…4 shows that addition of nano ZnO to the psf membrane increased its porosity to 64 % at nano ZnO 1 wt%. The increase in porosity due to the presence of nano ZnO resulted in the formation of microvoids between the PSFnano ZnO membrane matrices [36]. However, an increase in nano ZnO concentration resulted in a decrease in porosity of up to 62 % at 1 wt% nano ZnO.…”

“…The flux value of a membrane can be calculated by comparing the membrane permeate flow rate per unit area per unit time per unit pressure. [18]. The longer the filtration time, the pressure of the filtration process will also increase.…”

“…Recently, membrane technology has been widely applied due to its high separation capacity, selective separation, smaller footprint, low investment cost, and energy efficiency [10,18]. Membrane integration on microalgae cultivation could scale up the treatment capacity as well as raising the CO2 mass transfer to the liquid phase [19][20][21].…”
