Among different compounds, the idea of using manganese oxide for WOR is also interesting because the Mn 4 CaO 5 cluster is the biological WOR catalyst in photosystem II (PS II). Manganese oxides favor the replacement of noble metal catalysts with WOR catalysts in water splitting.
