“…[11][12][13] Positive responses to naloxone, consisting of improvement in heart rate, increased respiratory rate, or increased blood pressure, have been reported. Exaggerated anticipatory anxiety is common in social anxiety disorder (SAD). Neuroimaging studies have revealed altered neural activity in response to social stimuli in SAD, but fewer studies have examined neural activity during anticipation of feared social stimuli in SAD. The current study examined the time course and magnitude of activity in threat processing brain regions during speech anticipation in socially anxious individuals and healthy controls (HC). Method Participants (SAD n = 58; HC n = 16) underwent functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) during which they completed a 90s control anticipation task and 90s speech anticipation task.

“…[5] There have been several other single case reports documenting successful naloxone therapy, however, it should be noted that naloxone therapy remains controversial. [5,9,14–16] It has been suggested that hypertension is more likely to occur after the use of naloxone. [5,9]…”

“…[5] We speculate that part of this difference may relate to our use of naloxone, which has been advocated as a specific antidote for the CNS effects of clonidine. [5,9,14,15] Five of our patients were treated with naloxone and four are likely to have avoided mechanical ventilation because of its use. These patients received a bolus dose of 50–100 mcg/kg followed by an infusion.…”
