N-arylation of amines: C–N coupling of amines with arylboronic acids using Fe3O4magnetic nanoparticles-supported EDTA–Cu(ii) complex in water

Abstract: Fe 3 O 4 magnetic nanoparticles-supported EDTA-copper(II) complex (Fe 3 O 4 -EDTA-Cu(II)) has been prepared and characterized by TEM, SEM, XRD, VSM, TGA, and FT-IR spectrometers. The catalyst was applied for the C-N coupling of arylboronic acids with amines for the preparation of N-aryl compounds.Recovery tests confirm that the catalyst can be easily recovered and reused up to eight times without significant loss of its catalytic activity.

“…Copper and nickel have been successfully used to catalyze the coupling of amines with arylboronic acids . Nickel catalysts have several advantages over copper catalysts such as lower energy barriers for oxidative addition in cross‐coupling reactions, allowing a wider range of leaving groups, lower price and more eco‐friendly characteristics .…”

“…[18,[21][22][23][24] Copper and nickel have been successfully used to catalyze the coupling of amines with arylboronic acids. [23,[25][26][27][28][29] Nickel catalysts have several advantages over copper catalysts such as lower energy barriers for oxidative addition in cross-coupling reactions, allowing a wider range of leaving groups, lower price and more eco-friendly characteristics. [30,31] So, in the past decade, nickel-catalyzed aromatic C-N coupling reactions have received more attention than copper ones and made remarkable advances, [32][33][34] but these nickel complex catalysts are homogenous and have the problems of separation from the final products.…”

“…The lack of thermal stability of NDELA derivatization with trimethylsilyl is essential for the determination of NDELA by GC and capillary GC. HPLC In the continuation of our research work [11][12][13][14][15], we introduce here a very simple, fast and non-expensive method with no derivatization for the determination of NDELA in coconut diethanolamide by reversed phase high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with a dual-wavelength UV-Vis detector.…”
