Primary Myocardial Disease in Infancy and Childhood

Acute Isolated Myocarditis in Newborn Infants

Of the three such cases which have been reported in newborn infants one (Singer, 1932) showed myocardial degeneration, the others (Lind and Hultquist, 1949) interstitial changes only; two adult cases described by Lemke (1924) provided one example of each type of lesion, while that mentioned by Saphir et al (1944) was of the interstitial type.…”

Metastatic Melanoma in the Small Bowel

“…Reports of melanoma deposits in the small bowel appear sporadically in the literature (Saphir, 1927;Maxwell, 1928;Herbut and Manges, 1945;Katz, 1950;Chitwood and Guarino, 1954;Beirne, 1955 ; De Castro ct alii, Some writers claim that the lesion may occur primarily in the intestine (Chitwood and Guarino, 1954 ;Beirne, 1955 ;Strauch, 1964 ;Thomas, 1968). W e consider that the reported cases of primary melanoma of the small intestine do not appear sufficiently well documented to establish this as a fact.…”
