Multiple Temporal Bone Anomalies in Isotretinoin Syndrome

Abstract: Vitamin A and its derivatives are known teratogens. To our knowledge, this is the second temporal bone histopathologic report on anomalies related to these substances. A white boy (aged 4 years 5 months at death) was born with a complex central nervous system dysgenesis related to his mother's use of isotretinoin (Accutane) early in pregnancy. Exaggerated anticipatory anxiety is common in social anxiety disorder (SAD). Neuroimaging studies have revealed altered neural activity in response to social stimuli in SAD, but fewer studies have examined neural activity during anticipation of feared social stimuli in SAD. The current study examined the time course and magnitude of activity in threat processing brain regions during speech anticipation in socially anxious individuals and healthy controls (HC).
