Wireless sensor network (WSN) has become a very popular technology with a wide range of applications. It consists of several spatially distributed sensors that work collaboratively to monitor a given region of interest (ROI). The limited energy available for each sensor node is a crucial restriction that affects the overall performance of the network. Therefore, energy efficiency is a major concern in WSNs. Over the years, many techniques have been developed and used to reduce energy consumption in WSNs. Clustering is one of the most effective energy-saving techniques that significantly can improve the efficiency of WSNs in terms of the network lifetime, energy consumption, and the number of received packets. In this paper, an energy-efficient algorithm for cluster head (CH) selection based on a newly formulated fitness function and using the manta ray foraging optimization (MRFO) is proposed. The objective function for the proposed formulation takes into account different network parameters such as the average distance between the CH and the sensors in its cluster, the distance between CHs and the base station (BS), residual energy, and CH balancing. The proposed algorithm is tested by running many simulations under a variety of conditions. The simulation results showed that the proposed algorithm has a better performance than that of some other algorithms reported in the literature in terms of energy consumption, networks lifetime, and the number of received packets.

<p>Internet of Things (IoT) and sensor devices have been connected due to the development of the IoT and Information Communication Technology (ICT). It offers automatic environments in smart city and IoT scenarios and describes investments in advanced resources in futuristic human lives as sustainable growth of quality-wise life with intelligent infrastructure. Nowadays, IoT devices are continuously increasing and utilized in advanced IoT applications, including Smart Homes, Smart Farming, Smart Enterprises, and others. However, security and privacy are significant challenges with Ransomware-based Cyber-attack detection in IoT due to the lack of security design and heterogeneity of IoT devices. In the last few years, various advanced paradigms and technologies have been utilized to mitigate the security issues with Ransomware attack detection in IoT devices and data. This paper comprehensively surveys Ransomware-based Cyber Attacks and discusses solutions based on advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Blockchain, and Software Defined Networks (SDN). Then, we design service scenarios for ransomware-based cyber-attack detection. Finally, we summarize the open research challenges and future directions for ransomware in IoT.</p> <p> </p>

Many Internet of things application scenarios have the characteristics of limited hardware resources and limited energy supply, which are not suitable for traditional security technology. The security technology based on the physical mechanism has attracted extensive attention. How to improve the key generation rate has always been one of the urgent problems to be solved in the security technology based on the physical mechanism. In this paper, superlattice technology is introduced to the security field of Internet of things, and a high-speed symmetric key generation scheme based on superlattice for Internet of things is proposed. In order to ensure the efficiency and privacy of data transmission, we also combine the superlattice symmetric key and compressive sensing technology to build a lightweight data transmission scheme that supports data compression and data encryption at the same time. Theoretical analysis and experimental evaluation results show that the proposed scheme is superior to the most closely related work.
