Multi-stage Ozonation and Biological Treatment for Removal of Azo Dye Industrial Effluent

Abstract: In this study, decolourization and COD removal of Reactive Red 120, Remazol Brilliant Blue, Reactive Green 19 and Reactive Black 5 by ozonation and biological treatment were evaluated to apply for wastewater treatment containing azo dye. The performance of COD and colour removal in the single-stage ozonation-biological treatment was also compared with the multi-stage ozonation-biological treatment processes. Ozonation transforms the functional groups in azo dye to produce more biodegradable by products, which … Show more

“…sonophoto-Fenton and vice versa. Various literature studies depict the use of combined systems like physicochemical [22], ozone-biological [23], photochemicalbiological [24], photocatalysis [25], etc. for the treatment of dyes, but little attention has been paid on coupling ultrasound with other AOPs with sequential studies.…”

“…R t % = 100 (C o -C t ) /C o (4) where: R t % percentage of dye removal at any time. According to experimental design of the four variables there was thirty one experiments .The model of design was the second-order polynomial response equation was used to make relation between the collected response and variables as in eq.…”

“…Wastewater pollution gives bad effects on public water supplies which can cause health problems such as diarrhea [3]. Major pollutants in textile wastewater are high acidity, heat and other soluble substances main pollution in textile wastewater came from dyeing and finishing processes [4,5]. Many treatment processes included physical, chemical, and biological have been employed to treat various municipal and industrial wastewaters for example chemical, biological, food, peanut hulls, maize bran, and others [6][7][8][9].…”
