“…For instance, Truhan et al. 9 reported an 87% response rate in their 15 patients with PL whereas in another study there was consistently no beneficial response noted 10 . Gelmetti et al.…”

“…For instance, Truhan et al 9 reported an 87% response rate in their 15 patients with PL whereas in another study there was consistently no beneficial response noted. 10 Gelmetti et al found erythromycin only 'moderately effective'. 7 Ersoy-Evans et al 5 reported 61% of children cleared completely following treatment with erythromycin.…”

Exaggerated anticipatory anxiety is common in social anxiety disorder (SAD). Neuroimaging studies have revealed altered neural activity in response to social stimuli in SAD, but fewer studies have examined neural activity during anticipation of feared social stimuli in SAD. The current study examined the time course and magnitude of activity in threat processing brain regions during speech anticipation in socially anxious individuals and healthy controls (HC). Method Participants (SAD n = 58; HC n = 16) underwent functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) during which they completed a 90s control anticipation task and 90s speech anticipation task.

“…There have been only a few reports regarding the treatment of children with PL with oral antibiotics including erythromycin (26,27). Shavin et al (26) described three children with PLEVA successfully treated with erythromycin.…”

“…Shavin et al (26) described three children with PLEVA successfully treated with erythromycin. Rasmussen et al (27) reported no response in eight children treated with erythromycin in PLEVA. Later, in another study (12) that included 15 children with PLEVA, 11 (73%) achieved remission within 2 months of the initiation of therapy.…”

“…An 18‐year‐old adolescent with febrile ulceronecrotic PLEVA was treated with PUVA and methotrexate with a beneficial response (15). Four adolescents with severe progressive PLEVA unresponsive to erythromycin, tetracycline, and prednisolone responded to methotrexate 2.5 mg given every 12 hours for three doses (16). Despite oral erythromycin and topical steroids for 2 weeks prior to admission, our patient with febrile ulceronecrotic PLEVA continued to worsen rapidly.…”
