Living with a disabled individual requires adaptation and causes some limitations in the lives of family members. 2,3 The birth of the disabled child or the subsequent disability situation causes difficulties and changes as the family members adapt to the new conditions, family structure, and relationships with each other and their inner worlds. 4 It is emphasized that this situation, which is difficult to get used to, affects parents' close environment economically, socially, and psychologically. 2,3,5 In addition, disability in children affects the emotional burden in the family, the social support for families is low, 6 and the physical and mental health of mothers, especially, is negatively affected due to their higher responsibility for these children. 7 Families need help and support in dealing with the stressful and long-term changes required to care for a child with disabilities. Therefore, it is important for nurses who care for children with disabilities and their families to know these families, to know their lives, and to plan family-centered nursing care. Bu sistematik derleme, engelli çocuklara sahip olan ailelerle yapılan hemşirelik alanındaki lisansüstü tezlerin incelenmesi amacıyla yapıldı. Gereç ve Yöntem: Çalışma, içeriğinde "engelli çocuk, hemşire, aile" kelimesi geçen lisansüstü tezlerin taranması şeklinde 1-10 Temmuz 2019 tarihleri arasında gerçekleştirildi. Araştırma kapsamına dahil edilme kriterlerine göre 18 lisansüstü teze ulaşıldı. Bulgular: İncelenen lisansüstü tezlerin büyük çoğunluğunun (n=15) yüksek lisans tezi olduğu, %61.1 ile en fazla tezin (n=11) Çocuk Sağlığı ve Hastalıkları Hemşireliği Anabilim Dalı'nda yapıldığı ve %23.8'inin konu alanının ebeveyn ruh sağlığı (f=5) üzerine olduğu saptandı. Sonuç: Engelli çocuğu olan ailelerin fiziksel, duygusal, sosyal ve ekonomik yönlerden büyük bir yük altında oldukları görülmektedir. Hemşireler tarafından sağlanan bilgi, bakım, danışmanlık, eğitim ve destek girişimleri, engelli çocuğa sahip olan ailelerin yaşadıkları güçlüklerle baş edebilmesi, yaşam kalitesinin arttırılması ve uzun süreli bakımın devamlılığı açısından oldukça önemlidir.

Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Family Needs Studies: Relationships with Parent, Family and Child Functioning

<p style="text-align: justify;">Findings from a research synthesis of the relationships between family needs and parent, family, and child functioning are reported. The synthesis included 31 studies conducted in 12 different countries. The studies were conducted between 1987 and 2021 and included 4,543 participants. Eight different family needs scales or adaptations of the scales were completed by the study participants (mothers, fathers, or grandmothers of children with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, or medical conditions). The outcome measures included caregiver psychological health, parenting stress, parenting burden, parenting beliefs, family coping strategies, family functioning, family support, and child functioning. The correlations between family needs and the outcome measures were used as the sizes of effects for evaluating the strength of the relationships between measures. Results showed that unmet family needs were associated with more negative and less positive family and family member functioning and fewer unmet family needs were associated with more positive and less negative family and family member functioning. The sizes of effect for parenting stress and burden were larger than were the sizes of effects for each of the other outcome measures. Child condition and study quality moderated the relationship between family needs and parenting stress and burden but not the other outcome measures. The results are discussed in terms of one component of family systems intervention models.</p>
