“…On the other hand, histological analysis confirmed that the rcCsD did not regenerate during the experimental period observed as previously reported, presenting a fibrous tissue fulfilling the bone defect (6,11,18,19). In addition, the inflammatory reaction to hA enables the recruitment of MGC around the biomaterials particles and, on the other hand, the use of autograft induces the almost complete closing of bone defect (6,11,18,19).…”

“…In both groups, the osteoblasts present in the borders of bone wounds show a reduced ability of bone synthesis, suggesting limited bone formation. Oliveira et al 19 obtained similar results after evaluating the critical wound repair promoted by a demineralized bovine bone implant. The authors showed that biomaterial has been replaced by fibrous tissue at 21 days after treatment, and after 90 days the repair was still incomplete.…”

“…After fixation, the samples were decalcified by using EDTA (0.05M; pH 7.4) at approximately 60 days. 17 The left maxillary hemi-arches were then divided and included in paraffin, sectioned with a rotary microtome that was 6 µm thick, parallel to the occlusal plane of the first molar up to the radicular division. At this point, eight cuts were made and the one with the most expressive tissue events and best material quality was chosen.…”
