“…Several specimens of Fragilaria vaucheriae var. perminuta (Grunow) KO-Bayashi as reported by Fukushima et al (1994) from the Antarctic King George Island, show some affinities but are narrower (mostly 3.5 pm vs. 3.9-5.2 pm) and have a more elongated, linearlanceolate to lanceolate outline with convex margins whereas U. colcae presents more parallel, straight margins.…”
