Monte Carlo simulated corrections for beam commissioning measurements with circular and MLC shaped fields on the CyberKnife M6 System: a study including diode, microchamber, point scintillator, and synthetic microdiamond detectors

Abstract: Monte Carlo simulation was used to calculate correction factors for output factor (OF), percentage depth-dose (PDD), and off-axis ratio (OAR) measurements with the CyberKnife M6 System. These include the first such data for the InCise MLC. Simulated detectors include diodes, air-filled microchambers, a synthetic microdiamond detector, and point scintillator. Individual perturbation factors were also evaluated. OF corrections show similar trends to previous studies. With a 5 mm fixed collimator the diode correc… Show more

“…(b), while we found an over‐response of 4.0% at 3 mm depth. The trends of ionization chambers showing under‐response and diodes over‐response were also reported in a second study by the same first author . It must be noted, that the investigations by Francescon et al were done for a CyberKnife machine.…”

“…No significant dependence from the energy due to not water equivalence of the Yb-fiber was observed. It is worth noting that the Exradin W1 proved to be a reliable tool for small field dosimetry applications such as RT beams commissioning and quality checks 1,29,30) thanks to its water-equivalence. However, the approach adopted for stem effect correction is very sensitive to the irradiation set up [31][32][33][34] .…”

“…8 Carlo simulation of A16 microchamber in CyberKnife M6, 9) we corrected the measured dose by applying 1.099, 1.025, and 1.013 for fixed cones of 5.0 mm, 7.5 mm, and 10.0 mm, respectively. When these correction factors were applied to fixed cones of 5 mm, 7.5 mm, and 10.0 mm, the range of the point dose error was significantly decreased as −4.8%, −2.2% and −0.7%, respectively.…”
