“…Therefore, the use of molecular markers to verify chromosomes and allocate exogenous chromosomes to different homoeologous groups in a wheat background is a convenient and rapid method employed in genetics and breeding research (Kalia et al 2011). SSR and EST-STS markers, which are located in different regions of chromosomes, have been used extensively to detect structural changes in the chromosomes of wheat and its relatives, thereby identifying the alien chromosomes (Kishii et al 2010;Kang et al 2011;Chen et al 2012;Pang et al 2014aPang et al , 2014bDu et al 2013Du et al , 2015. In this study, we combined SSR and EST-STS approaches to putatively identify homoeologous relationships.…”

“…The colchicine treated H811 was crossed and backcrossed to 7182 to get heptaploid hybrid H8911 (2n = 49, AABBDDNs). Subsequently, H8911 was then backcrossed to 7182 or crossed to several other wheat cultivars, and generated a series of wheat-P. huashanica derived lines including wheat-P. huashanica 1Ns-7Ns disomic addition lines [12][13][14][15][16][17], 2Ns(2D) disomic substitution line [18], 5Ns(5D) disomic substitution line [19], and translocation lines [20,21]. These wheat-P. huashanica derived lines have more desired agronomic traits than their wheat parents, demonstrating that P. huashanica is a useful wild relative for wheat improvement.…”

“…With the development of molecular biology, the identification of alien chromosome has greatly developed. Genomic in situ hybridization (GISH) is widely used for determining the origin of genome, chromosome and chromosome segment in hybrid (Schwarzacher et al 1989), however it can not determine which chromosome(s) that have been added or transferred (Du et al 2013a). Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) markers are more convenient to achieve much higher throughput analysis in terms of manipulation and application.…”
