“…IFIT5 confers antiviral defense by disrupting protein-protein interactions in the host translation initiation machinery [16], and its expression is induced in ducks upon infection with influenza virus [17]. The selective sweep of genes involved in lipid and glucose metabolism and immune defense [18, 19] may be responsible for the dramatic phenotypic changes that are of economic value in domestic chickens, such as meat yield and disease resistance. SLC16A12 is a member of the carboxylic acid transporter family, essential for the establishment and/or maintenance of homeostasis in the lenses and kidneys.…”

“…All primer sequences (Table S1) were designed using Primer 5.0 software and were synthesized by Biosune Biotechnology. The thermal cycling conditions used were as follows: 94°C for 30 s, followed by 40 cycles of denaturation at 94°C for 5 s, annealing at 60°C for 31 s, and 72°C for 10 s. The specificity of the PCR reaction was confirmed through melting curve and sequencing analysis (L. Yu et al, 2018). qPCR was performed on an ABI 7300 (Applied Biosystems) using SYBR Premix Ex Taq II (Tli RNaseH Plus; TaKaRa).…”

“…Total genomic DNA was isolated with the TIANamp Blood DNA Kit in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, and then stored at − 20°C, prepared for PCR amplification. Birds were released after blood extraction and the entire study was approved by the Committee on the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals of the State-level Animal Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center of Sichuan Agricultural University [43].…”
