Modified Series-Fed Two-Dipole-Array Antenna With Reduced Size

Abstract: A planar-printed E-shaped dual-wideband magneto-electric (ME) dipole antenna for WWAN/LTE applications is proposed. Through changing the surface-current distributions, an E-shaped electric-dipole structure is used to provide a dual-wideband. Besides, to reduce the size of the antenna and improve impedance matching, a novel feeding structure designed with inverted U-shaped tapered line and meandering L-shaped line is introduced. Finally, without conventional vertical ground planes, a small-size one is printed o… Show more

“…Bandwidth Improvement of Microstrip Patch Antenna using Partial Ground Plane is studied here. The overall size of the Antenna is 32.92 x 39.93 x 1.5mm 3 and it gave a Bandwidth of 230 MHz. The proposed antenna's ground plane was varied as x = 15 mm and y = 39.92 mm, it gave a Bandwidth of 400 MHz, showing an increase in the value of Bandwidth.…”

“…In addition, to reduce the total width of the antenna, rectangular patch‐shaped top loading is used on all the elements, and tapered transitions are used between the top loading patches and CPS lines. The optimized design parameters are as follows : l 1 = 64.2, l 2 = 48.1, l g = 77.1, s 1 = s 2 = 36, w s = 1.7, l 1t = 15.4, w 1t = 18, l 2t = 11.6, w 2t = 13.5, l gt = 20, w gt = 21.8, y f = 20, w f = 3, and w f2 = 6. The total width l g of the proposed antenna is reduced by approximately 14.3% compared to the conventional one.…”

“…Printed log‐periodic dipole array (PLPDA) antennas have now been frequently used in wireless communication applications because of their simple structures and ease of manufacturing. Moreover, they have very large bandwidth and good gain stability across the entire frequency band . This candidate antenna is highly recommended for wideband and high‐gain applications.…”
