Modified active disturbance rejection control for non-linear semi-active vehicle suspension with magneto-rheological damper

Abstract: This paper presents a novel idea processing the complex non-linear dynamics of a magneto-rheological (MR) damper and the external road disturbance based on the linear extended state observer (LESO) technology, and further verifies its reasonability by application of linear active disturbance rejection control (LADRC) in the quarter-car non-linear semi-active suspension system. In order to optimize the body acceleration and dynamic tyre load to improve the ride comfort and road-handling ability, a modified acti… Show more

“…The simplicity of implementation and resistance to disturbances are the advantages mentioned in this article. In Cheng and Jiao, 19 the design of the ADRC with extended state observer is considered for a semi-active suspension system with magnetic damper and the superiority of this controller is shown in comparison with the linear controllers. In Cao and Zeng, 20 an adaptive back-stepping SMC is designed for an underwater glider.…”

“…Song et al (2015, 2016, 2017) proposed a nonlinear fractional-order proportion integration differentiation (PID) ADRC method for the hypersonic vehicle attitude control. Cheng and Jiao (2018) applied the linear active disturbance rejection control (LADRC) in the quarter-car non-linear semi-active suspension system. Sun et al (2018) presented a comprehensive decoupling controller for gas flow facilities.…”

“…In this paper, an active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) based protocol is proposed to address the aforementioned formation problem. ADRC is a relatively new technique and has attracted extensive attention recently both in theory (Ran et al, 2016, 2017) and industry (Cheng and Jiao, 2017; Huang et al, 2017). The essentials of ADRC are summed up in Han (2009).…”
