Modelling metamaterial transmission lines: a review and recent developments

Abstract: This review paper is devoted to the discussion and comparison of the lumped element equivalent circuit models of the different types of metamaterial transmission lines that have been proposed so far, namely the CL-loaded lines, and those lines based on the resonant type approach. The latter category comprises both artificial lines loaded with split ring resonators (SRRs), or related topologies, and metamaterial transmission lines based on complementary split ring resonators (CSRRs). It will be the main aim of … Show more

“…By using these reactive parameters, the circuit response can be inferred. The results, also depicted in Figure 2(b) [33], validate the circuit model of Figure 1 (note that the agreement between the circuit and electromagnetic simulation is very good).…”

“…Another novel CPL emissive structure utilises a U shaped split ring resonator (SRRs), which have been the subject of extensive research in the last 10 years. [85][86][87][88] The SRRs act as a multipolar nanoantenna coupled to a semiconductor QD, showing emission at around 800 nm. 89 This specific SRR is arranged in a periodic lattice, with a lattice constant of 300 nm on a glass substrate and was covered with an MgF 2 spacer.…”

“…In 2002, the conception of composite right/left-handed (CRLH) transmission line (TL) metamaterials (MTMs) or planar negative-refractive index TL had been generalized to offer the implementations the practical applications for engineering in MTMs [1]. Such a paradigm has been exhibiting a rich potential possessing in electromagnetics engineering of the microwave devices with unusual properties [2].…”
