“…The design of adsorption system play a crucial role in order to generate high quality treated effluent. 16,17 Activated carbon has been generally utilized for this reason in view of its high adsorption capacity; however, its high cost tends to limit its use. In the past few decades, much research has been focused on the development of adsorbents from natural sources, for example, naturally occurring clays, zeolites, and other cheap and accessible solid materials to remove dyes from wastewater.…”

“…The results show that the intercalation caused an increase of inter-laminar distance that was 14.97 Å for raw clay and reach to 25.34 and 19.46 Å for HDTMA and DDMA clay, respectively. [5,7,8,[15][16][17][18][19] Thus, the intercalation of HDTMA and DDMA was only into the interlayer of smectite component, while the interlayer of illite was intact. These results are in agreement with the intercalation of other cationic surfactant as octadecyltrimethylammoniumchloride and dioctadecyldimethylammoniumchloride in Na + -montmorillonite, which gives a maximum layer expansion of about 10 Å corresponding to the presence of a parallel or lateral layer of organic molecules extended conformation.…”

“…Most of the synthetic dyes used for colourisation in different industries like textile, leather, paper, plastic and dyeing, accumulate in the environment and have highly harmful effects causes either to human beings or to aquatic life [1]. Thus, the disposal of dyes and pigments into aqueous environment is a main serious environmental problem, making discharge of highly coloured compounds from wastewater.…”
