Abstract: Findings: This paper reveals that the Ohmic resistance accounts for much contribution to battery total polarization compared to charge transfer impedance. Practical implications:Experimental results demonstrate the efficacy of the model with the proposed identification method, which provides the foundation for battery charging optimization.-686-Journal of Industrial Originality/value: The paper analyzed the impedance characteristics of the lithium-ion battery based on EIS data, presented a charge polarization… Show more

“…For electric vehicle and hybrid energy systems modeling, various equivalent electrical circuit models such as Shepherd's model, the RC model and the Thevenin model are very widely used [13,19]. An improved Thevenin's model which is also named as dual polarization (DP) model in literature [15] has been used here as it can be used to model any types of battery mentioned above.…”

“…The hysteresis phenomenon is caused due to parasitic behavior of the capacitors and is considered to be minimal and therefore it is being ignored in this model but could be included if and when necessary. From Fig.7., by using the Kirchhoff's law, the equations (18) and (19) could be derived.…”

“…It is impossible to measure the three voltages respectively in battery energy storage applications. Generally, the overpotential is divided into ohmic voltage and polarization voltage [3,4]. The ohmic voltage is related to the ohmic losses in electrolyte and the polarization voltage is equal to the other two overvoltage.…”
