Majority of the wireless ad hoc routing protocols are proposed to find feasible routes without considering the network load, end-to-end link quality and bandwidth requirements of the application. Therefore, protocol may not provide sufficient quality of service (QoS) to a high speed traffic such as multimedia. In this paper, we propose a path-quality and bandwidth-estimation based routing protocol (PBBR) for the high quality multimedia stream that can meet the application's bandwidth requirements and find the best reliable route. The novelty of this protocol is to select a reliable path to respond the application's requirements based on available bandwidth at each intermediate node and end-to-end path loss ratio. Obtained results from the simulation demonstrates that our protocol can achieve sufficient performance in terms of throughput and end-to-end delay.Key Words : Ad hoc network, Bandwidth, MANET, QoS, Video Stream. Ⅰ. IntroductionThe rapid advancement of wireless technology has gained much attention to the research community for high quality multimedia applications such as video telephony, video games, voice over IP, and emergency rescue systems [1] . Performance of some real world test-bed have persuaded the researcher to investigate There are few routing protocols in the literature that considered available bandwidth estimation to provide QoS [6] [7] . However, they did not consider the end-to-end path quality such as end-to-end path loss ratio which is essential to provide sufficient QoS. This motivates us to design the path-quality and bandwidth-estimation based routing protocol (PBBR).In our protocol, total consumed bandwidth is estimated at each node and disseminates the information to the neighbors through periodic "Hello" message. Each host estimates the available bandwidth using the neighbor's overall consumed bandwidth information and updates periodically. End-to- II. Path-quality and Bandwidthestimation Routing ProtocolQuality of service (QoS) is a overall performance of a network such as required bandwidth, packet delivery ratio and delay constraints to the applications. We consider the required bandwidth constraints and end-to-end path loss ratio for supporting the QoS of real time multimedia transmission.We propose PBBR protocol that satisfy the required bandwidth and best available route termed as 'reliable route' in the network. We focus on estimating the available bandwidth at each node, integrating PBBR scheme into the route discovery process.

Owing to the wireless and mobility nature, nodes in a mobile ad hoc network are not within the transmission range. It needs to transfer data through the multi-intermediate nodes. Opportunistic data forwarding is an assuring solution to make use of the broadcast environment of wireless communication links. Due to absence of source routing capability with efficient proactive routing protocol, it is not widely used. To rectify the problem, we proposed memory and routing efficient proactive routing protocol using Depth-First Iterative-Deepening and hello messaging scheme. This protocol can conserve the topology information in every node in the network. In experimental analysis and discussion, we implemented the proposed work using NS2 simulator tool and proved that the proposed technique is performed well in terms of average delay, buffer and throughput. Each node in a MANET works as both a host and router for transmission and receiving a data and also to maintain the information in the time of exchanging the nodes. MANET is one of the wireless communications and it didn't need any other help from other devices, thus it can operate without exiting infrastructure and other mobile user. The idea behind the MANET is based on multihop wireless networking [1]. MANET individually support for data forwarding and topology discover.The most important operation in the network layer is data forwarding and routing the data in the network [2]. In MANET this network layer protocol forms connectivity to all nodes from hop to neighbors [3]. The concept behind the data forwarding and routing are based on packets. The packets from one link to another link is maintained by data forwarding therefore in this situation which packets are send from the source to destination is maintained by routing concept [4]. Data forwarding through packets prevent the drawbacks in wireless sensor network and helps to know about the present data packet in the network.There are three cases for routing protocol in MANET, they are reactive, proactive and hybrid [9]. The main work behind the reactive protocol is to give the prior location of the destination node.A routing protocol is used to route the packet between mobile nodes within the network. That route should consume minimum overhead and bandwidth. Routing in the ad-hoc wireless network contains challenging approach because of its infrastructure less network and its dynamic topology. Abstract. A wireless ad hoc network is a collection of wireless nodes that can dynamically self-organize into an arbitrary and temporary topology to form a network without necessarily using any pre-existing infrastructure. These characteristics make ad hoc networks well suited for military activities, emergency operations, and disaster recoveries. Nevertheless, as electronic devices are getting smaller, cheaper, and more powerful, the mobile market is rapidly growing and, as a consequence, the need of seamlessly internetworking people and devices becomes mandatory. New wireless technologies enable easy deployment of commercial applications for ad hoc networks. The design of an ad hoc network has to take into account several interesting and difficult problems due to noisy, limited-range, and insecure wireless transmissions added to mobility and energy constraints. This paper presents an overview of issues related to medium access control (MAC), routing, and transport in wireless ad hoc networks and techniques proposed to improve the performance of protocols. Research activities and problems requiring further work are also presented. Finally, the paper presents a project concerning an ad hoc network to easily deploy Internet services on low-income habitations fostering digital inclusion.
