Mitochondrial calcium signaling and redox homeostasis in cardiac health and disease

Abstract: The energy demand of cardiomyocytes changes continuously in response to variations in cardiac workload. Cardiac excitation-contraction coupling is fueled primarily by adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production by oxidative phosphorylation in mitochondria.
