Miniaturized half‐mode SIW band‐pass filter design integrating dumbbell DGS cells

Abstract: This paper presents the numerical and experimental results of a miniaturized half-mode substrate integrated waveguide HMSIW C-band pass filter with defected ground structure DGS, using two slots and dumbbell shape defected ground structure. These two slots which are etched on the upper plane of the SIW cavity are used to constitute a multiplemode resonator, and the dumbbell-shape fractal DGS etched on the bottom plane can considerably enhance the filter's performances. The manufactured band-pass filter in half… Show more

“…The main parameters in SIW design are the SIW width "W", the diameter "d" of the metal vias and the spacing "p" between the centers of two successive vias [19]. The dielectric filled waveguide DFW is characterized by the dimension "ad" which is given by equation 1.…”

“…The half-mode SIW structure (HMSIW) is able to propagate guided waves in only half the width of the SIW. HMSIW lines are generated by bisecting SIW structures with fictitious magnetic walls since the field dominant mode has a maximum intensity in the middle of the width of the SIW [21]. As seen in fig.…”

“…In recent years, the development of microwave components is towards minimized weight, reduced size, and increased reliability with low cost. Among the most used components in modern telecommunications systems are filters, antenna, power divider, and couplers [1,2]. Rectangular waveguide is considered an effective transmission line, and it is among the most used components in microwave systems.…”
