Micrometer-Sized Mesoporous Silica Spheres Grown under Static Conditions

Abstract: Mesoporous silica spheres ranging from 2 to 6 µm in size were synthesized under static acidic conditions by mixed cationic-nonionic surfactant templating. The mesoporous structure of the calcined silica microspheres was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and nitrogen sorption, whereas the morphology and size of the microspheres were revealed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). It was shown that stirring is unfavorable for the formation of silica spheres in the present synthesis. The growth of the micr… Show more

“…Neste procedimento chega-se inclusive a obter sílica ou resinas constituídas por polissiloxanos, sob a forma de belíssimas partículas esféricas [39][40][41][42][43][44] , enquanto rotas hidrolíticas 45 ou até mesmo não-hidrolíticas 46 podem provocar a formação de filmes porosos 44 . Este procedimento mostra uma grande versatilidade nas variações dos aspectos preparativos, quando se explora devidamente os alcóxidos.…”

“…The quantities of the mesoporous nanomaterials are diffrenet when the experimental environments are varied Beck et al, 1992;Huang & Kruk, 2015). Among them, more attention has been paid to the synthesis of well-defined mesoporous silica spheres, because their applications are very promising in chromatography, catalysis, cosmetics, and photonic crystals (Huo et al, 1997;Grün et al, 1997;Qi et al, 1998;Boissiere et al, 2001;Kosuge & Singh, 2001;Kosuge et al, 2003;Kosuge et al, 2004). However, there were few reports on the solution synthesis of monodisperse mesoporous silica spheres with nanometer-sized diameters (Yang et al, 2006 …”

“…For example, much attention has been paid to the synthesis of well-defined mesoporous silica spheres since spheres are very promising for applications in chromatography, catalysis, cosmetics, and photonic crystals [3][4][5][6][7][8][9]. It is noted that monodisperse mesoporous silica spheres had been prepared by various synthetic routes, however, there were only few reports on the solution synthesis of monodisperse mesoporous silica spheres with micrometer-sized diameters [10].…”
