“…One thousand two hundred eighty-one patients were identified in 112 articles, including 75 case reports and case series ( 11 , 11 , 17 88 ), 31 cohort studies ( 10 , 89 119 ), four phase II trials ( 99 , 120 122 ), and two randomized placebo-controlled trials ( 9 , 12 ). Seven hundred ninety patients (61.7%) were diagnosed with FMF, 265 (20.7%) with MKD, and 226 (17.6%) with TRAPS.…”

“…The patient had been prescribed anakinra due to colchicine intolerance and to prevent recurrent FMF attacks, but unfortunately, the patient died due to sepsis before the effects of anakinra treatment could be evaluated. 29 A history of abdominal surgery also increases the risk of ASBO, so avoiding unnecessary surgical interventions is advisable. 13,14,21 Autoinflammatory diseases other than FMF can also lead to ASBO due to recurrent serosal inflammation, such as hyperimmunoglobulin D syndrome (HIDS).…”

“…However, Talerico et al 29 described a 65‐year‐old patient diagnosed with peritoneal mesothelioma due to repeated peritoneal inflammation of FMF. The patient had been prescribed anakinra due to colchicine intolerance and to prevent recurrent FMF attacks, but unfortunately, the patient died due to sepsis before the effects of anakinra treatment could be evaluated 29 . A history of abdominal surgery also increases the risk of ASBO, so avoiding unnecessary surgical interventions is advisable 13,14,21 …”

“…In human, a patient of Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF), who carries the mutation of NALP3 suppressor Pyrins and suffers from recurrent bouts of fever and serosal inflammation, is presumed to develop MM with intolerance or resistance to colchicine or IL-1 inhibition. 115 On the other hand, decreased incidence and prolonged development of crocidolite-induced MM were not observed in Nlrp3 KO mice. 116 These difference in Asc and Nlrp3 in murine crocidolite-induced mesothelial carcinogenesis may be explained that Asc forms an inflammasome complex with Nlrc4 or Nlrp6 or Aim2 and generates inflammatory reaction.…”
