Objective The aim of this study was to analyze the primary stability of dental implants with and without surface treatment, by means of resonance frequency, using different materials as substitutes for human bone substrates for insertion. Methods Sixteen external hexagon, cylindrical RESUMO ObjetivoAnalisar a estabilidade primária de implantes odontológicos com tratamento e sem tratamento de superfície, por meio da frequência de ressonância, utilizando diferentes materiais como substratos substitutos do osso humano para sua inserção. MétodosForam utilizados 16 implantes de titânio Conexão ® , cilíndricos, hexágono externo, com 11,5 mm de comprimento e 3,75 mm de largura, sendo: 8 Master Porous, com tratamento de superfície; e 8 Master Screw, usinados. A instalação de implantes foi realizada nos seguintes substratos: osso de costela suína, madeira, osso artificial de poliuretana da marca Nacional ® (40, 20 e 15 PCF) e da marca Synbone ® . Foi avaliada a estabilidade primária através da frequência de ressonância utilizando o aparelho Osstell™ Mentor. Os dados obtidos foram submetidos a tratamento estatístico ANOVA e Teste de Tukey, com nível de significância a 5%. ResultadosFoi constatado que, apesar de Master Porous apresentar maior valor que Master Screw em todos os substratos, estes não apresentaram diferença estatística entre si (p>0,05), com exceção da poliuretana Nacional ® de 20 PCF. Quando inseridos no substrato madeira e na poliuretana Nacional ® 40 PCF, Master Porous e Master Screw tiveram maiores valores. Master Porous, quando inserido no osso suíno também foram iguais estatisticamente a estas interações. ConclusãoApesar de inovações nas características das superfícies de implantes serem desenvolvidas constantemente para contribuir no desempenho de implantes osseointegrados, e nosso estudo encontrar que não houve influência do tratamento de superfície na estabilidade primária aferida por frequência de ressonância; ainda há pouco conhecimento científico sobre esses efeitos.Termos de indexação: Densidade óssea. Flexible intramedullary nails have been indicated to treat femoral fractures in pediatric patients. The purpose of this study was to examine the stability of simulated transverse fractures after retrograde intramedullary flexible nail fixation. Various nail diameter combinations were tested using composite femurs in bending, torsion, and a combined axiavbending test where a vertical cohpressive force was applied to the femoral head. The cross-sectional percent area fill of the nails within the femurs was also determined. In 4 point bending, the greatest repair stiffness was 12% of the intact stiffness. In torsion, the greatest stiffness was 1% of the intact stiffness for either internal or external rotation. The greatest repair stiffness was 80% of the intact stiffness for a compressive load applied to the femoral head. Nail combinations with single nail diameters greater than 40% of the mid-shaft canal width, as measured from an AP radiograph, prevented the fracture from being reduced and left a posterior gap. Flexible intramedullary nails may be of value in the treatment of pediatric femoral fractures, but care must be taken to insert nails that are correctly sized for the canal and to protect the healing fracture from high torsional and bending loads.

Efeitos mecânicos causados pela variação da inclinação do parafuso excêntrico no orifício da placa de autocompressão trária à da rampa de deslizamento do orifício da placa foi acompanhada de diminuição nos valores mé-dios de força máxima e força máxima efetiva de compressão 0° > 10°i (p < 0,001), 0° > 20°i (p < 0,001), 0°> 25°i (p < 0,001). Conclusão: Em modelo experimental, utilizando-se placas do tipo DCP ® não pré-tensionadas, a inclinação na inserção de parafusos excên-tricos promoveu alterações nos valores médios da força de compressão axial. Houve diferenças significativas (p < 0,05) para menos na compressão axial obtida na cortical subjacente à placa, quando da inserção de parafusos inclinados no plano longitudinal com direção oposta à da rampa de deslizamento do orifício DCP ® .
