Mechanical Performances of Twill Kenaf Woven Fiber Reinforced Polyester Composites

Abstract: Natural fibres have the potential aspect to replace glass fibre reinforced composites. One of these fibers is kenaf. It is also one of the selected natural fibres that have bio resource profit regarding on their capability to absorb energy absorption especially. In order to prove the application of this fiber for the load-bearing application, the fiber in the form of yarn is weaved into fiber mat and reinforced with the plastic resin. This study focused on the twill yarn kenaf woven composite structure. Compos… Show more

“…Most polymers melt or degrade earlier than 200°C. However, there is a class of thermally stable polymers that are able to bear up temperatures of at least 300°C in air and 500°C in inert gases without structural changes or strength loss, which can be analyzed by TGA [30,32]. All the measurements were conducted under inert gas (nitrogen), keeping a constant heating rate of 10 o C/min and using an aluminium crucible with a pin hole.…”

“…The tensile strength of the blends largely depends upon the strength and molecular weight of PEG components. It is well-known that increased of molecular weight of PEG increases intermolecular forces and surface energy, and makes molecular chain entanglement easier, but simultaneously reduces the slippage of PCL/PLA molecular chains under tensile loading, resulting in an increase in tensile strength [10] [11]. This reflect the result achived where higher Mw gives better result compare to low Mw PEG.…”

“…Further, the Luffa Cylindrica can lead to several applications in food and pharmaceutical industries which are evident in the published papers. There are few works based on these fibers, and suggested suitable applications based on the obtained mechanical properties of the composite materials [21][22][23].…”
