Abstract: A previously derived cubic equation describing the release of drugs from matrix tablets is compared with a more complex equation recently presented. Using data obtained from cylindrical hydrocortisone matrix tablets, it is shown that the simpler cubic equation affords an equally acceptable description of drug release.
