Material Flow and Spatial Data Analysis of the Petroleum Use to Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Emissions in Northeast China

Abstract: This study investigated the petroleum consumption and petroleum-related CO 2 emissions (PCOEs) in Northeast China at city level using material flow analysis (MFA) and spatial data analysis (SDA). The petroleum flows for the year 2014 were plotted, and then the spatial patterns, weighted mean centers (WMCs), and spatial autocorrelations of petroleum consumption and PCOEs were calculated, respectively. It was found that Northeast China is a petroleum exploitation-processing-export region in China; the total inpu… Show more

“…This research institution works closely with other institutions (Politecnico Milano, Azad University, Sharif University, and the University of Regina), revealing its strong ability to cooperate with other institutions. The China University of Petroleum ranks rst in the number of publications, and its research focuses are CO 2 emission material ow and spatial data analysis in the petrochemical industry, 22 analysis of the effect of natural gas and renewable energy replacing fossil energy on CO 2 emissions, 35,36 development of detection and remediation techniques for VOC leaks in the petroleum industry, 37 and the conversion of CO 2 emissions from the petrochemical industry into methanol and other chemical industrial products to achieve emission reduction and resource utilization. 38 Recent papers reveal that China attaches great importance to the study of PWG, and the research is mainly focused on CO 2 recycling and utilization as well as the establishment of relevant models to evaluate petrochemical emissions, control their escape range, and reduce environmental hazards.…”
