“…As for screening intervals, in the public healthcare system (SUS) there is a heavy predominance of short intervals between screening tests, i.e., 45% with annual intervals or shorter, and 32% with intervals between one and two years 11 . According to a recent hospital-based study in southern Brazil, annual mammographic screening was more common in women 50 years or older than in women from 40 to 49 years 13 . The same study showed that users of the public system (SUS) were more likely to undergo annual screening when compared to those with private health plans (62% versus 48%) 13 .…”

“…In Brazil, breast cancer is the most common tumor affecting women, comprising about 28% of all tumors diagnosed annually, excluding skin tumors (non-melanoma) (INCA, 2017). With the improvement of breast cancer screening, more impalpable breast lesions suspicious of cancer have been detected (Delmonico et al, 2015;Romeiro et al, 2016). The aim of this study was to evaluate the serum levels of vitamin D (25OHD) in patients with impalpable breast lesions comparing with a control group.…”

“…6,16 Mammography has been called the best method of early detection of breast cancer, which reduces the mortality rate by 15-25%. 17,18 In addition, studies in different parts of Iran such as Kerman, 19 Mazandaran, 20 Gorgan, 21 and Ilam 22 have found that breast cancer screening rates are not optimal. 6 Due to the increasing trend of breast cancer, the high cost of treatment and the fact that it affects most economically and socially productive women, early detection through screening methods, such as mammography, is important and it reduces the burden of disease mortality.…”
