Abstract: The findings of Israel et al. 2 suggest that bone density should be monitored in young women who are taking inhaled glucocorticoids. The best-established measures for minimizing bone loss in this population are weight-bearing exercise and adequate calcium and vitamin D intake. Oral contraceptives might also be considered for young women who are losing bone while taking glucocorticoids.
