Magnetic Janus nanocomposites with iridium(iii) complexes for heterogeneous catalysis of logic controlled RAFT polymerization using multiplexed external switching

Abstract: Magnetic Janus nanocomposites enabled robust toggling of RAFT photopolymerization of myriad monomer formulations using a single nanocatalyst with three orthogonal external physical manipulations.

“…Because of their porous network structures and functionalities, polymer hydrogels were used as metal nanoparticle carrier systems [104]. They could be produced by several polymerization techniques, including polymerizations [105,106], free-radical [107,108], and ionic [109,110] based on convenient and low-cost solution routes. As an example, a core-shell microgel containing a shell of cross-linked poly(N-isopropyl acrylamide) (PNIPA) and solid polystyrene (PS) core was applied to stabilize a nanocatalyst of Pd [111].…”

“…Of course, if we list all the molecules on Earth that have not yet been reported to academia, we may add a few more kinds. Some researchers who were not able to wait for new sensitive molecules that might emerge, and others who were tired of the existing smart system responding to only one stimulus, developed a ‘smarter’ system named multi-stimuli responsive system by simultaneously including segments that respond to two or more different stimuli in one system [ 147 , 148 , 149 ]. For the same reason, the previously introduced several researchers changed the environmental reactive range by slightly touching the structure of the stimuli-sensitive molecule [ 119 ].…”
