Magnetic Interactions in Layered Nickel Alkanethiolates

Abstract: Layered nickel alkanethiolates are found to exhibit antiferromagnetic coupling along the S-Ni-S chain with the ordering temperature increasing linearly with decreasing alkyl chain length. Theoretical calculations are performed to study the origin of magnetic moments and interactions in these layered systems.
