Machining parametric study on the natural fiber reinforced composites: A review

Abstract: Nowadays, the utilization of natural fiber reinforced composite has increased frequently. These natural fibers have significant features like low cost, renewable, and, more importantly, biodegradable in nature, making them to be utilized for various industrial sectors. However, the massive demand for natural fiber reinforced composites (NFRC), forces them to be machined and operated, which is required for countless areas in multiple industries like automotive, marine, aerospace and constructions. But before ob… Show more

“…Therefore, DG also has an important influence in determining drilling quality in composite materials, according to the research results. Additionally, the optimal selection of machining parameters, including drill diameter, feed rate (FR), and spindle speed (SS), as well as the manufacturing method employed for composite production, fiber volume fraction, and fiber orientation, is imperative to ensure the creation of damage free holes [6][7][8][9][10].…”

“…Lately, the employability of natural fibers as reinforcements in composites has been approved by many researchers. 5,6 Multiple factors, including rising environmental concerns, possible cost competitiveness, oil decline and costs, and new rules for a safer and cleaner environment, 7,8 are driving this growth in interest in natural fiber compounds. The use of natural fibers instead of conventional reinforcements like glass fiber and carbon fiber has been proven to have significant environmental benefits because their composites are biodegradable.…”
