Abstract: NASA scientists were overcome with wide‐eyed excitement on March 5 when the agency announced that the Lunar Prospector mission has found evidence of water ice on the Moon. The finding, based on just the first four weeks of data from the Lunar Prospector's anticipated 18 month mission, is proof, says mission manager Scott Hubbard, that “faster, better, cheaper is not just a slogan: it's a way of life.” It also means that astronauts sometime in the 21st century may find that orb an oasis as well as a refueling …
