In Vivo Microdialysis for Dynamic Monitoring of the Effectiveness of Nano-liposomes as Vehicles for Topical Psoralen Application

Abstract: In this study, the skin permeation of liposomes containing psoralen was investigated by in vivo skin microdialysis. Psoralen-loaded nano-sized liposomes were prepared with a mean size of 117.5 nm and a polydispersity index of 0.21, indicating the uniform dispersion of phosphatidylcholine vesicles in the liposomal solution. Based on in vivo microdialysis experiments, the drug concentration in local deep skin of rat increased rapidly and reached a peak concentration (C max ) of 319.35 23.72 µg/mL at 180 min, and… Show more

“…[275] Studies have proposed that liposomes exhibit good biocompatibility and biodegradability. They exhibit potential as active carriers with the following favorable properties: 1) improving solubility and stability; [276] 2) controlling the release and increasing the survival time of the drug in vivo; [277,278] 3) increasing brain targeting; [279] 4) enhancing bioavailability; [280] and 5) realizing the co-delivery of TCM. [281] Lipid Nanoparticles: Solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs) are a next-generation nanoparticle delivery system composed of surfactants as stabilizers and solid physiological lipids (such as triglycerides, lipid acids, steroids, and glycerides) as lipid cores that encapsulate or embed drugs.…”
